Secret Ingredient?

Below (click the picture) is a little movie claiming to show how to refresh stale filter coffee.

WHAT is she adding to the cup?

Salt?
Monosodium glutamate?
Laundry powder?
Crack?

Can anyone translate, please?

It's just salt. Just a pinch. Morton's website mentions it, along with several others.

Is that Japanese???

Hm, I am not sure if it says the ingredient there. I can only read some Japanese. I'll have to ask my wife (she is Japanese). I think it's just saying that you add that mysterious powder (probably is salt), to make it fresh again.

I was going to say I don't know, but I see 'zilla found out it was salt? I guess if you're going to drink 5 hour old coffee, salt is the least of your worries.

Who needs salt, just strain the bugs through your teeth and suck it on down...kidding, though I have been known to sip on a cup of coffee for an hour, okay two, but only at work.

When I taught elementary art, I had given out little multi colored erasers to the kids for a reward, and just because they were so cute--the kids.

A couple of the boys were fooling around by my desk and one of them raised his hand and said, "Ah, Ms. you might find an eraser in your coffee, and it MIGHT be mine." Thankfully I didn't have to strain it with my teeth, instead I laughed with them, all horsy faced. Man I miss those little ones sometimes something fierce.

Der, what was the question?

Yup. Salt. When the second woman on the street does the taste test she says, "It tastes like it's been boiled for ages, just like the coffee at my company," which made me laugh.

As an aside, I used to add ground licorice root to the perculator when making coffee. Makes it taste so much stronger.
