Terri Schiavo: Solicitors Fees

A dear friend has just phoned me with this news, so I havent checked it out yet.

Apparently, If you go to TerrisFight, and go to the section called Myths about Terri, you will find a complete breakdown of her 'husband's expenditure.

It seems he has spent HALF A MILLION DOLLARS on legal representation, in an effort to get his wife killed off.

Now, where would he get that kind of money? Oh, oops a daisy, Terri herself was granted a million dollars for her ongoing therapy - you know, the therapy she never got. She was awarded that because her dearest darling husband apparently spoke under oath in court saying he would do everything to help his wife get better, that he was in for the long haul and was going to stay by her side. And he's her guardian and has control of that cash. How convenient.

It really pisses me off that nobody will pick up on this, that there appears to be solid evidence that he was recorded spouting about her long term care and recuperation and his deep love for his wife while he was after the cash and only decided to tell any medical people that she wanted to die really, three months AFTER the payout and a good year and a half after her extremely suspicious collapse at home. I wonder how closely his sudden change of memory coincided with shacking up with his live in lover and mother of his kids?

No. sod it, I went and looked. Heres a direct snip:

MYTH: This is just a family battle over money.
FACT: In 1992, Terri was awarded nearly one million dollars by a malpractice jury and an out-of-court malpractice settlement which was designated for future medical expenses. Of these funds, less than $50,000 remains today. The financial records revealing how Terri’s medical fund money is managed are SEALED from inspection. Court records, however, show that Judge Greer has approved the spending down of Terri’s medical fund on Schiavo’s attorney’s fees - though it was expressly awarded to Terri for her medical care. Schiavo’s primary attorney, George Felos, has received upwards of $400,000 dollars since Schiavo hired him. This same attorney, at the expense of Terri’s medical fund, publicly likened Terri to a “houseplant” and has used Terri’s case on national television to promote his newly published book.

I’m still blushing a bit. Thanks for the glowing "Comment". Once I opened up my Roget’s Thesaurus to find out what choice of words were synonymous with “succinct” I went on to have a look at your own post on this subject. Spot on, I believe you English would say.
We agree…Michael Schiavo is a low life, money-grubbing dirt bag. I’m appalled that there are actually a large number of people supporting his view as opposed that of the poor parents. That liberal politicians—united in their hate for G.W. Bush—are willing to side with the husband on this, I find extremely disconcerting; not to mention the precedent that this ruling could set. I fear for disabled people who are at the mercy of their “loved ones”.

I wasn’t aware of the specific details as explained on your post, and I will admit having read between the lines on most of this case, but then again, It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to understand what kind of character Michael Schiavo is.

Thanks
Two posts down (I've been blogging like a mad woman today) please see the link to THE PETITION to impeach the judge. Even if you don't sign it, read the list of laws he apparently overturned to suit his purpose. Terri Schiavo is in a dreadful situation, but no-one can assume that her case will be the end of this, if the Judge is as warped as the petition makes out. Doesnt make it look much like any woman in Florida is safe, if he gets the case.

What it all boils down to is that a less than honorable man has managed to convince intelligent people that an alleged conversation he suddenly and conveniently (after the check cleared) remembered, is for real.
People are so caught up in all the positioning and squabbling that they've missed the main point...does Mr. Schiavo have any motives to make up a conversation where his wife indicated she would rather be dead?

Totally with you on that - see blog 'No!!!', in the previous posts column.
I only wrote it yesterday but was blogging like a mad woman and pushed it off the front page. Actually I might go to my settings and correct that.

Being intellectually dishonest is a disservice to yourself, to those you love and the God that loves you above the rest of creation.

He is trying to warn you!

You are being manipulated by the Republican Party. They are the Pharisees of old, reincarnate!

The Republican Party has used you and your fellow evangelical Christians through manipulation and fear mongering. They have pretended to share your values while using the faithful in this country to win majorities at the ballot box, all the while paying only lip service to the values you hold dear.

Every time there is an election they rail on about a culture of life, but what have they attempted to do about it?

They support a death penalty system that has our prison systems acting like an execution factory, and we are fighting wars over petroleum.

Republican politicians use they political power that your votes represent to oppress the poor, and boost the rich. Our tax system, our education system, and our healthcare system favor the rich. Don't forget what the bible tells us about this:

"It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for one
who is rich to enter the kingdom of God." (Mt 19:24)

These people, in the name of Christian Values have taken advantage of people of faith. They have mocked what you believe by paying it lip service time and time again, but not acting as true believers would.

If the Republican Party wanted to protect life, why didn't they pass a law that would protect people in Terri's situation, rather than delivering her up to the federal courts to be executed as Jesus was handed to the Romans?

These Pharisees that want to claim that this was about preserving life and not politics, in the face of such blatant lies and deceits.

These men are guilty of the sin of Vanity, while making a mockery of the Lord.

Do not doubt for a second that these men would happily accept their 30 pieces of silver, for they have and they will end up paying with their souls.

The Lord Jesus does not allow himself to be so openly mocked.

Again, let us not forget what the bible has to say about such people:

For such [are] false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
2 Corinthians 11:13-14 (KJV)

Dear Hippy
I dont live in your country.
Even Pharoah let the Israelites out of Egypt.
Try and see what would be God's will for this one woman, above the plots of humans.
God Bless.
