Thursday Thirteen

Thirteen things sitting on my side desk, that shouldn't be there but don't have proper homes.
  1. A very small, very light 'mini stitch' sewing machine, bought in desperation when I had to do this.
  2. A School Certificate For Excellent Behaviour, awarded to Daughter in March this year.
  3. A pack of tarot cards, loose, held down by a chunk of an amethyst geode
  4. One and a half pairs of earrings
  5. A single packet of gummed paper chains, there ever since we didn't use them at Christmas.
  6. A cotton wool pleat and a bottle of nail varnish remover.
  7. A fir cone, scavenged by one of the kids last autumn
  8. An empty Ambi-pur plug in air freshener
  9. One hair bobble
  10. One pistachio nut, where the shell didn't open during roasting
  11. Two miniature bottles each of hotel shampoo and conditioner.
  12. The star shaped top off a rubber stamp from Daughter's Tracy Beaker craft magazine collection.
  13. A pot full of Birthday cake candles and holders

You know whats so good about this TT thing? When I looked at this particular desk space (about 2 foot square), I thought it was a right mess, but reading the list above it looks more family oriented and eclectic. This may or may not be a good thing, as the lack of guilt this engenders might mean half the stuff is still there this time next year. Oops.

To me your list reads like a family portrait of your life the past 6 months which is very heartwarming :) Ok, clean your desk for the next portrait ;) lol

Sometimes I want to blame my kids for all the messes and junk sitting around. But then I really look at it, and it's almost all mine. Oh well.

I thought your list was very sweet.

I don't think any of my things are where they're supposed to be! :)

Thanks for stopping by my blog and Happy Thursday!

Leave it till next year and then it can be 313 things! ;-)

Sounds almost like a Tracey Ermin art installation.... so when someone comes round and turns their nose up you can tell 'em it's not a mess it's modern art!

Isn't it amazing what we have on our desks. I'm going to do this TT one day :)

Need to find the other "half" of those 2 and a half earrings. :)

I wish we could take our unopened pistachios back to the store for exchange or credit. I mean, those little nuts ain't cheap, and I hate it when I find unopened ones.

(edited "hate" in all caps to lower case, and edited the final stop from exclamation point to period -- you've turned me into a neurotic mess)

Going to investigate TT a bit further...

Happy T13...thanks for stopping by mine!

One pistachio nut! Crack that sucker open with a hammer and then you'll only have 12 things on your side desk!

Ah, so you have one of those also! -Mix

Now that you've made the list, are they in the waste basket?

Maybe I should look around.

Thanks for visiting my TT.

Tarot cards, huh? I want to get some, but I'm pretty afraid too.

Lots of interesting stuff there!

Your desk sounds a lot like mine - right down to the tarot cards, only mine are wrapped in black cotton and in a purple pouch. My TT is up.d

Your daughter is so cute. I must say Cheryl, you've got some weird stuff on your side desk, lol. Do you read tarot cards? And the 1 1/2 pair of earrings, do you have 3 holes, or are you missing 1/2 a pair?

I went to another friend's blog on my blogroll & she's got a Thursday Thirteen thing going too. Neither of you are on each other's list though. I gave her your info & here is hers. Maybe you 2 can get on each other's lists. :)

I definitely want a recap next year. I'll bet more than half of that stuff is still there (at least if you are at all like me).

It's cleaner than mine. But I am not going to list all of the crap on my desk. I work best in disorder. Call it my artiste's sensibility. Creativity is not pretty.

Go and check out my T13.

I don't think that it is a lot in that space, but different stuff that just not go together :)

I used to have a deck of tarot cards too, a gift from my mom. I got all freaked out when I was around twenty something and burned them. I suck.

In honesty though the reason why I got rid of them was because in every reading I ever gave their was always something negative...and it happened...and I didn't want to know what was going to happen from the cards anymore after that.

I'll let it come to me in dreams, and most times the dream revelations are positive. Ahh that's better. xxx, I like your collection, much better than nick knacks that have to be dusted.
