Do You Know Me?

Because I don't.

To see ourselves as others see us - would that be a blessing or a curse?

Anyway, I am currently still sans imagination which is fine, because I have nicked a wonderful concept I found at Ally's blog.

So, PLEASE go HERE to my Johari Window and click on six characteristics you think fit how I come across to you. If you do, then it offers you the chance to set up your own.

I am really hoping a few people who read here regularly will play and be honest - this could be fun, or at least an education.....

(Here's how I'm doing so far, for those that want to watch or just don't want to play)

As I said on my comments, it's really hard to stick to just 6 descriptors. Will be fascinating to see if there is any consistency!

I did it too, but now it has a server overload.

I've done and snap on Doris's comment ~ just six words! Ooof!

That was really, really difficult. There were at least three other choices I wanted to make. In the end I just hit 'submit' so that I would stop dithering.

Thanks Guys!

If you love me you could do me a huge favour and tell me how I SUCK too - we all need to know which bad traits are only in our imagination....

I hadn't quite realised there was a flip-side and liked the idea... the trouble is, you have to choose at least 5 and I can't. I was even excited at the thought I'd do this flip one for me but going through it and looking at it for me I can't chose 5 either! SO I can't do it. The one I would choose for you is "insecure" because I reckon that sometimes you are. Not all the time - just sometimes. But that's it from the choice given.

Of course that doesn't mean that you are perfect, or that any of us are, just shows the shortfalls of these things!

LOL I nearly had a nervous breakdown last week and I come up with ONE fault? Try aggressive, paranoid, sulky - oops are they on the list?
Human fallibility - we all get tired, snarky, resentful, scared, but thanks Doris, I think you picked a weakness I had named for myself. Better that than find out I come across a way that I wasnt aware of!
:-)

How about if I let people sign themselves as Mickey Mouse?

I'm sorry Cheryl but this is just not on. It is one thing having the occasional "fault" but it is another to say that you are aggressive as a general trait. It just doesn't rub.

Of course we have shortcomings but I don't think this activity handles it properly or gives enough options.

As for the current thingy, I was interested to read your dearest selections. He chose "loving" and something similar which is quite appropriate and I suppose had to forgo on intelligent or clever. Now, you are one of the most intelligent people I know and yet you woefully squander it all (that's a fault you have!). Reading the results so far only has 50% giving you intelligent as one option. I think that is wrong... but on the other hand you have many qualities and so something had to go by the wayside.

Hmm. I'm not sure that this is a particulalry helpful comment. I wish I could write something inspiring... or provocative! ;-)

Please remember that I enjoy vulgarity immensely ;-)

This is quite interesting. Give me a shout when all the results are in. I'm very interested to read them (as long as you're still interested to share).

So, the way a person is perceived might be wrong entirely. If I hang back, it might be because I'm timid, 'though I could be preceived as aloof, right?

Oh you are lovely! I knew someone would understand. Its like the old joke that men are dynamic but women are pushy.
Every 'bad trait' is just a trait, coloured by how it is perceived by others. The only time that perception has credence is if a LOT of people pick it out!
Thanks Zilla :-)

P.S. I think that being cynical and brash are GOOD traits! rofl

I agree with the rest of the comments it was very difficult to stop at six.

It didn’t mention funny, so I chose clever to describe you, you are clever of course and witty, and humorous as hell, hence funny.

Now, the things about you, apart from your incredible intelligence, acquired wisdom and humor that I find so comforting and endearing, is that you are able to see both sides of a situation, and you lend insight and compassion to everyone who you meet. You are gentle and kind in spreading compassion, and you are NOT judgmental, but understanding. It is a person who is like you that would make a fine judge, or psychiatrist, but also a lovely most valued friend.

I've done your Nohari one, too - not courageous enough to put one up for myself, although, as you say, they are just aspects of us, and just words to describe behaviours we sometimes display.

I think that the Johari one says more about the self-perceptions of the person it belongs to, and the Nohari one says more about the perceptions and prejudices of the participants. Does that make sense?

I've done it too. Interesting to see what others think. Not sure if I'm brave enough to do the Nohari one though.
